Firearms Safety Rules
NRA Gun Safety Rules

I will treat all firearms as if they are
always loaded and ready to fire, until I verify otherwise.

I will keep my finger off the trigger until
the sights are on the target.

I will always keep the weapon pointed in a
safe direction.

I will never point a weapon at a target I do
not intend to destroy.

I will ensure the barrel and action are
clear of obstruction and that I have the proper ammunition for the
firearm I am carrying.

I will never climb a fence, tree, or jump a
ditch with a loaded firearm.

I will never shoot at a flat hard surface or
water.

I will store firearms and ammunition
separately.

I will avoid alcohol and other drugs before
or during shooting.
