Pistol & Rifle Range Regulations


Safety first and always! 

Call The Range

Before using the ranges, members MUST call the range phone at 872-1473.  Listen to the message, then after the tone,  give name:

  • Club membership number, date and time to use ranges

  • If a pistol shooter, one must also give town/state pistol permit number (first time only)

  • A "buddy" system is suggested if at all possible, "buddy" need not be a shooter.  No one under 12 years of age to act as a "buddy."

Range Sign In

All members MUST also sign in on sheets BEFORE using ranges.  Give the following information:

  • Your initials. (Full name is not necessary.)

  • Membership number

  • Date and time of arrival

Range Sign Out

All members MUST also sign out on sheets after using ranges. 

Hours of Operation

9:00 a.m. to legal sunset unless otherwise noted when you call in (currently winter hours are 4 p.m.).

  • Scheduled tournament events and work parties have priority over time and ranges.

General Range Rules

  • All minor shooters and guests must be supervised by a Club member at all times.

  • Only one guest or two immediate family members may accompany a member.

  • Be prepared to show your Club membership card. Any Club member may ask to see it.

  • Keep all guns pointed down range at all times.

  • Clear ranges before changing targets.

  • Use common courtesy and common sense with other shooters.

  • No consumption of alcoholic beverages allowed on ranges or adjacent parking lots.

  • All shots are to be directed so that lead will strike the bank at the back of the range and not the range floor.

  • Make sure you leave the ranges clean:

Return all backers to range building when finished (pistol range).
Do not leave targets on the target frames (rifle range).
Put all rubbish in the barrels, this is your range, take care of it.

  • Shoot at properly backed paper targets ONLY.

  • NO shooting at targets any place but on target backers in holders or frames.

  • NO shooting at glass or plastic bottles.

  • NO shooting at tin or aluminum cans, balloons, stones, etc.

  • NO shooting at exploding targets.

  • NO armor piercing or incendiary bullets, no silencers, or fully automatics of any kind are allowed

MEMBERS VIOLATING THESE REGULATIONS OR CAUSING ANY RISK TO SAFETY, ARE SUBJECT TO SUSPENSION FROM THESE FACILITIES, LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP AND LEGAL ACTION.

ADDITIONAL PISTOL RANGE REGULATIONS

  • Handle guns only on the shooting bench after line is clear.

  • Only pistols, revolvers and 22 rim fire rifles are allowed on the pistol range.

  • NO center fire rifles, shotguns, silencers or full automatics of ANY kind are allowed on the pistol range.

  • NO shooting at iron frame work (pistol range).

  • Do not attempt to move target frames, leave in "full-face" position.

ADDITIONAL RIFLE RANGE REGULATIONS

  • Keep rifles pointed down range at all times, all actions open until on firing line and load weapons only on firing line.

  • Persons on the firing line, leave rifles in rack or cases with the action open.

  • NO shotgun shooting at hand thrown targets.
